Being nominated to share the things I am most grateful for, for 5 days was a wonderful experience that I plan to keep on doing every day.
I have started a Gratitude Diary before but never kept it going and I was surprised how good this simple exercise made me feel.
I completed my list every night just before I went to sleep and it allowed me to reflect on my day and relish all the special moments.
I went to sleep every night feeling blessed and really grateful for all the wonderful people in my life and all the opportunities life is offering right now.
We are so often just ‘future focused’, always planning the next ‘to do’ list and thinking about how great life will be when we achieve the next goal. We can lose sight of the present as we keep racing towards this future ‘panacea’ and the present becomes just a corridor to race along to reach our ever increasing goals!
It is so good to reflect on each day and think about what we have achieved, what obstacles we have overcome and how we have moved forwards -even if it’s just baby steps, we are still closer to our goals than we were at the start of the day.
We spend so much time berating ourselves for the things we haven’t achieved on our endless ‘to do’ list and very little time relishing and appreciating our progress.
Ask yourself each day – ‘What baby steps can I take today to put myself in the path of life’s greatness and take me towards my goals?’
Here are my list of highlights from a very rewarding week.
