Personal Presence – Top Tips on how to stand out from the crowd

February 18, 2015 by SylviaBAdmin Leave a Comment

If your presence doesn’t make an impact. Your absence won’t make a difference.
Trey Smith

People with a strong personal presence recognise and celebrate their uniqueness and with that recognition comes a magnetic energy which is totally irresistible.

Having a strong presence opens doors that would otherwise remain closed.

It gets you in front of people who you would not normally get to meet.

It opens up incredible opportunities that other people can only dream of and it attracts people to you who want to work with you even though they don’t know why.

People with a magnetic presence stand out from the crowd.

They are seen, heard, heard of and remembered long after they have left the room.

So why is a strong presence so powerful?

What characteristics do most people with presence exude?

Here are just some of the reasons they stand out from the crowd.

  • They are comfortable in their own skin and therefore they make others feel comfortable around them. – We are drawn to their aura.
  • They are warm, engaging, inclusive, authentic.
  • They have a strong sense of purpose, a clear message, they know where they want to get to in life.
  • They are great listeners and make you feel you are the only person in the room.
  • They are interested and interesting
  • They are evolving, constantly developing their skills/knowledge and moving forwards to new levels.

So here are a few of my Top Tips to ensure that you make more of an impact wherever you are –

  1. Look the best version of yourself – we only have seconds to make that vital 1st impression so make sure it’s the sort of impression you want to leave on people’s memories for many years to come. Wear colours/styles that suit you and make you look well. If you haven’t done so -invest in a consultation with a stylist – it’s an investment for life and will ensure you always look your best – 1st impressions count every time!
  2. Value yourself enough to look after yourself. Make sure you get quality sleep, time out for YOU to exercise, get out in the fresh air, meditate, do Yoga, read or whatever re-charges your batteries -you are subliminally telling yourself “You matter” which does wonders for your self-esteem and confidence.
  3. Continually learn, develop your skills and knowledge and share your expertise with others it positions you as an expert in your field and will open up opportunities to speak, train or mentor others.
  4. Surround yourself with ‘radiators’ ditch the ‘drains’ – negative people (drains) will try to keep you small and discourage you from challenging yourself as it threatens their peace of mind. They will also want to dwell on everything negative in their lives and will drain your energy. Radiators will inspire and challenge you and encourage you to keep growing, they will celebrate your successes and spur you on to greater things.
  5. Be totally ‘Present’ wherever you are. You can’t change the past, we have no certainty of the future, the only time we can impact on is the present. Leave all your ‘stuff’ behind when you are meeting others and be in the moment, fully engaged and giving them the gift of ‘undiluted listening’ without thinking about what you are going to say next.
