Working in the ENERGIES the Best Tool for Time Management

August 11, 2014 by Sylvia Baldock Leave a Comment

Working in specific ENERGIES is an incredibly effective tool for Time Management

Knowing your Talent Dynamics profile strengths and weaknesses and being able to plan your time around the specific energies is invaluable.

I have spent today in Dynamo Energy, which is all about creativity, and innovation and I have loved every minute.

When we are being creative it is really important to switch off the phones and email notifications and just focus on the task in hand, giving it 100% of our attention.

I am sure you have been in the situation where you have been creating a document or an email or some new marketing material when you are suddenly interrupted by a phone call. As a result of that you then have to make another call or write an email or talk to someone in the office.

Trying to get back into the creative flow afterwards is really difficult and you waste considerable time and energy trying to get into your previously innovative space.

Whereas, when you shut yourself away from all distractions, the ideas, words and enthusiasm are given a free reign and the results are so much better.

The brain needs time to think, plan, innovate and trying to push our creativity into a tight time frame with unchecked distractions will stop the free flow of ideas, words, images etc.

So today I started with making a clear plan for the rest of August to make sure I hit the ground running come 1st September with all my ducks in a row and my new branding, PR, Marketing, Website and CRM systems all looking highly professional and ready to roll!

With my day planned for Dynamo activity I felt free to just keep on creating and these are the results!

I have had a seriously productive morning and have created the following –

The draft text and images for –

2 exhibition banners on Personal Presence.

A fabulous new Personal Presence Flyer.

The covers of my new Personal Presence CD

My five Top Tips on Personal Presence to be turned into a laminated card

Blurb for my new website pages.

Not bad for a morning’s work!!

It’s proof that working in one energy makes you so much more productive rather than randomly working through your ‘To do’ list, switching between the 5 different energies throughout the day which uses up so much energy it is like boiling a kettle from frozen!

So how do you plan your day? Try planning by the energies and watch how much more effective you will be.

Plan specific time frames to do all the tasks which come under one energy and complete them before switching to the tasks of another energy.  so for example – set aside 2 hours/half a day creative time in Dynamo Energy, than allow a chunk of time in Blaze energy when you connect with people, phone, email, network, meet up etc

Here is a table to guide you – you will find you naturally need to spend more time in some of the energies so plan accordingly making sure you are spending as much time as possible playing to your strengths. That’s where you are most productive and where you will add the most value to your business!

If you haven’t yet taken your Talent Dynamics Profile Test -it is invaluable on so many different levels and has literally changed the lives of millions of people worldwide.
